14-year-old Astana forward Asyl Pazyl appeared as a guest on the Nursultan Qurman podcast.
The star of the first two matchweeks of the Freedom QJ League shared what brought her into football, how her parents reacted, and how she manages to balance school and sport.
Asyl was born in Zhetisay, Turkistan Region. She got interested in football at the age of seven after seeing local boys play in the yard while walking with friends. Her cousin — who once played in the Kairat academy — taught her how to shoot and pass. Soon after, her parents supported her interest and enrolled her in a training group.
Now 14, Asyl has been playing football for half her life. Despite her commitment to the sport, she doesn’t fall behind in school — her grades are all A’s and B’s, and her favorite subject is algebra.
«My goal is to make my country proud and contribute to the growth of women’s football. I try to give everything in every match — to score, to prove my level,» she says.
Pazyl has been directly involved in all nine goals scored by Astana in the first two rounds, with five goals and four assists. In the studio, she received her first individual award in the League — the Mastercard Best Player of Matchweek 2.
