We recap the action from Matchweek 12 of the Freedom QJ League B.
Husen Brace Seals Zhenis’ Fourth Straight Win
The league leaders defeated Altay 3–1 at Astana Arena.
The scoring was opened in the very first minute, with Daut Husen finding the net. However, Altay forward Daulet Dautbayev restored parity in the 53rd minute.
The introduction of Ilyas Serikbayev proved decisive – the midfielder came on in the 58th minute and restored Zhenis’ lead in the 70th. Husen then wrapped things up in stoppage time, completing his brace.
It was a tense contest, with the referee showing a total of seven yellow cards for stopping promising attacks and unsporting behaviour.
The result takes Zhenis to 30 points and extends their winning streak to four matches. Altay suffered their tenth defeat and remain bottom with four points. Dautbayev, meanwhile, has now scored seven goals – more than half of his team’s total of 12 this season.
Chasers Respond with Narrow Wins
Both teams immediately behind Zhenis also collected three points, although by much narrower margins.
Jaiyq earned a 2–1 home victory over Yelimay. The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute through defender Anas Adylkhanov, but the hosts turned the game around before half-time: Artem Berbeko scored in the 35th minute before Alexey Poberezhny put Jaiyq ahead in the 39th. There were no further goals after the break.
Khan-Tengri needed just one goal to beat Zhetysu: the match remained goalless until the 77th minute, when defender Ilyas Shukebayev finally broke the deadlock.
Both teams now have 24 points, with Jaiyq sitting higher due to their head-to-head advantage.
Okzhetpes Claim Convincing Win in Shymkent
The Kokshetau side recorded the biggest victory of the Matchweek, defeating Ontustyk 3–0.
Almerek Karbayev opened the scoring in the 35th minute, before Daniil Semenyuk doubled the lead in the 44th. The third arrived in the 86th minute through Dinmukhamed Zhakupov, who had come on in place of Karbayev.
Okzhetpes strengthen their grip on fourth place with 20 points and are now just four points away from the top three. The two-time Freedom QJ League B champions, meanwhile, suffered their second consecutive defeat and sit fifth.
Substitute Delivers Victory for Atyrau
The only goal in the match between Atyrau and Kyzylzhar did not arrive until the 68th minute. It was scored by defender Yaroslav Bortnik, who had only entered the game at half-time.
The contest was also a tense one, producing seven yellow cards in total, with the match-winner himself among those booked.
Atyrau are seventh with 15 points. Kyzylzhar remain ninth and continue to struggle in front of goal: their nine goals are the lowest total in the competition.
