Here’s a look at how the second week of Freedom QJ League B unfolded.
Ontustik earn a hard-fought win
The reigning Freedom QJ League B champions bounced back from their opening-week defeat by narrowly beating Kyzylzhar 3-2 at home. However, the Shymkent side had to come from behind after visiting forward Alikhan Serikbay opened the scoring in the 26th minute.
Assilbek Fakhriddinov equalized from the penalty spot before halftime, while Danil Pak put Ontustik ahead after the break. A few minutes later, the hosts extended their lead thanks to an own goal by Arlan Baiakhmet.
Despite that, Kyzylzhar managed to pull one back late in the game through Egor Lavrenko. Before that, Ontustik had gone down to ten men after defender Arshat Alibek received a red card.
Two red cards in Atyrau
Atyrau confidently defeated Zhetisu 3-1 at home. Ayan Garipulla opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, while Nurbek Amangeldi doubled the Oilers’ advantage after halftime.
In the 75th minute, visiting striker Alikhan Tumanbayev reduced the deficit and briefly reignited hopes of a comeback. However, those hopes quickly faded as two Zhetisu players — defender Emirkhan Kolbayev and goalkeeper Gleb Osipov — were sent off following an on-field altercation.
Alikhan Serikkali sealed the final score in stoppage time.
Timur Deshko delivers victory for Khan-Tengri
The clash between Khan-Tengri and Yelimay in Almaty turned into a goal fest, with the hosts claiming a dramatic 4-3 win thanks to a late turnaround.
Khan-Tengri defender Dinmukhamed Birzhanuly opened the scoring in the 9th minute, but Yelimay forward Alinur Karpishanov equalized soon after. The teams went into halftime level, though early in the second half the visitors converted a penalty and took the lead through Vadim Saibel.
Khan-Tengri refused to give up. Timur Deshko equalized in the 57th minute, but in the 70th minute Yelimay regained the lead thanks to a goal by Daryn Ualkhanov.
Still, the hosts completed an impressive comeback — all thanks to Deshko’s two penalties. He first converted from the spot in the 77th minute to level the score, and then, deep into stoppage time, completed his hat-trick with another successful penalty.
It is worth noting that this performance allowed Deshko to become the league’s outright top scorer after just two weeks — despite not scoring a single goal in the opening week.
Altay still without a win
Zhaiyk secured a 2-0 home victory over Altay. The goals came from Iliyas Bekmukhanov, who converted a penalty, and Beybarys Serikkali.
Alongside Kyzylzhar, Altay remain one of only two teams yet to earn a point this season. In the previous weeks, the Ust-Kamenogorsk side suffered a narrow defeat to Okzhetpes.
1-0 at Astana Arena
The match between Zhenis and Okzhetpes took place at the country’s main stadium, Astana Arena. It was a tense and difficult encounter, but the hosts eventually secured victory thanks to Andrey Belyayev’s goal in the 77th minute after an assist from Alfarabi Zhenis.
After two weeks, Zhenis and Zhaiyk sit at the top of the league table.
