The individual Freedom QJ League prize presented to the top scorer of the flagship tournament is named in honor of Evstafiy Pekhlevanidi.
Evstafiy Pekhlevanidi is a Soviet footballer and USSR Master of Sports.
He began his career with Metallurg Shymkent in 1977. In 1979, after scoring 28 goals for the team, he joined Kairat the following season, where he played from 1980 to 1989. Pekhlevanidi remains Kairat’s top scorer in the USSR Top League — over ten years with the Almaty club, “Pekha” scored 94 goals in 273 matches, won the USSR Football Federation Cup, and was included in the list of the 33 best footballers of the 1984 season.
To this day, Pekhlevanidi holds the title of Kairat’s all-time top scorer, and one of the club’s youth academy branches is named after him.
Today, Evstafiy Alkiviadovich celebrates his 65th birthday. We wish him good health, long life, family happiness, and new achievements!
